Metro responds to dumping site in Bakerton.
"The refuse in Bakerton was not collected according to the days indicated on refuse calendar due to the unforeseen mechanical breakdowns of the refuse collection vehicles.
In response to the Dumping site in Bakerton causes health hazard article published on April 20, metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe says, “The refuse in Bakerton was not collected according to the days indicated on refuse calendar due to the unforeseen mechanical breakdowns of the refuse collection vehicles.
“This created a backlog in the collection of refuse.
“Funds and equipment are available.
“We have ensured that the rate of mechanical breakdowns remain within a manageable level.
“Currently there are no backlogs in refuse collection in Springs.”
