Learners celebrated at the Bhairavi Sungum of Springs Tamil School

The Sungum is proud of the learners and their parents for cultivating and maintaining their heritage, especially in studying Tamil, which is one of the longest-surviving classical languages in the world.

The learners of the Bhairavi Sungum of Springs Tamil School all obtained distinctions in the National Tamil School Examinations coordinated by the head of South African Tamil Federation’s Education Desk, Dr Bull Murugan.

With a 100 per cent pass rate, the Sungum is proud of the learners and their parents for cultivating and maintaining their heritage, especially in studying Tamil, which is one of the longest-surviving classical languages in the world.

“I am so proud of them for what they have achieved.

“I know it’s because of their hard work and because of their teacher, Saranam Naicker, that they all did so well,” says the Sungum’s first female chairperson, Poovershree Pillay.

At the awards ceremony, held at Springs Secondary School, learners were presented with certificates, trophies and floating trophies for the highest mark in the grade.

The Chairlady’s Award was presented to Meeyasha Naidoo for excelling in her studies, determination, punctuality and participation at the Sungum’s cultural, all other social and welfare events.

The Parent of the Year floating trophy was awarded to Charmaine Chetty for the second time for her consistent interest and support towards the Tamil School and the organisation.
