Workers feel they have been lied to
“We have been working hard. We were promised to get paid for the time they gave us, but now we are not going to get our full pay.”
Contract workers in Bakerton are upset that their working contract has been terminated prematurely, as from December 13.
Workers were hired by the metro and a construction company to lay down water pipes.
Construction began on January 28 and the completion date was set for August 17 of next year.

A board outside the construction site clearly states theses dates.
Workers were supposedly told they would be fully employed during this time period.
The workers, however, were told by the site manager and the community liaison officer (CLO) that construction will be complete on Friday and that their contracts will be terminated.

The construction company and the metro have failed to respond at time of publication.
