Vagrancy and broken lights keep residents awake at night

Ward councilour Dean Stone says: “It is unacceptable for it to look this way here.”

Residents at Presidentia old age home are feeling increasingly unsafe at night.

One fear stems from the high grass surrounding the complex which has not been cut in some time.

A mattress was discovered lying in the grass and residents say that vagrants sleep there at night and cause a disturbance.

Additionally, some of the lights within the complex do not work and many parts of the complex are subsequently left in the dark during the night.

Some residents say they are too afraid to leave their homes at night and fear that break-ins might occur as a result of the vagrancy and poor lighting.
