LOCKDOWN: Springs and Kwatsaduza journalists are still gathering the news
Being in lockdown doesn't mean being cut off from the news. Caxton Local Media will still be reporting on local news during this time.

With the rising number of coronavirus cases in South Africa, and the declaration that Covid-19 has been listed as a global pandemic, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Monday that the country will go into lockdown from midnight on Thursday.
This means that our staff will be working from home for the next three weeks, starting today (Friday) until April 16 (inclusive).
However, newspapers fall within the critical business community services which will continue to function and as such we will still be covering news in your community.
The printed products – the Springs Advertiser and African Reporter – will be delivered to you each Thursday and online daily as it unfolds.
Please note that the African Reporter will be printed and distributed a day early (on a Thursday) until April 16.
While we may not be at our desks, we will still be hard at work to bring you all the news from Springs and Kwatsaduza, and will be relying on you, now more than ever, to keep us apprised of what is happening in your neck of the woods.
We are also all still contactable, so you will still be able to chat to a journalist and tell them your story.
If you have a story to share with us, please feel free to reach out on Facebook, email or via a phone call.
You can speak to us on our Facebook pages – @Springs Advertiser and @African Reporter, via email or telephone as listed below.
We invite you to email us the story, with a photo or two, and the journalist handling your story will be in contact with any further questions which may need answering.
If you would like to meet with a journalist, please contact them directly.
Please bear the following in mind:
• Stories should include details of who did what, when, where, how and why – what we like to call the six magic elements of any good news story. Tell us as much as you can about the event or story so we can give the story the exposure it deserves.
• Please share your good news stories as well as comments on things that are troubling you.
• Each story needs a photo, if possible, which should always have a person/people in it.
• Photos should be a minimum of 1Mb and should not have been taken with or shared via WhatsApp as this degrades the quality, making it difficult to use in the newspaper.
• We love candid photos taken around Springs showing the beauty of the town and the diversity of our residents’ interests, or pictures of what your family is doing together while in lockdown mode.
• Tell us who is in your photo. We need the first and last name of everyone in the photo.
• Please limit group photos to six or fewer people if possible.
• You are also welcome to send us videos – what are you doing to stay entertained and safe?
• Videos should be no more that two minutes long and should contain no profanities.
• As with photos and stories, please tell us who is in the video, first and last names, and what you are doing in the video.
