AfriForum Springs and members of the Springs Concerned Residents Group held a protest on Friday morning.
Participants gathered at the PAM Brink stadium and then drove in a large convoy to the municipal offices where they delivered a petition and a manifesto.
The manifesto demands the delivery of basic services by the City of Ekurhuleni to residents of Springs.
Problems highlighted in the document include electricity outages, sewage leaks as well the lack of basic maintenance of parks and other public facilities.

“There are never ending breakdowns in the supply of electricity.
“Sometimes this relates to load shedding by Eskom, the failing national supplier of electricity, but more often than not electricity outages are caused by other local factors within the powers of Ekurhuleni,” the manifesto reads.
“Lack of maintenance to the water infrastructure has resulted in phenomenal wastage of water in a country that is water poor. Badly maintained sewage pipes and pumps can pose serious public health threats.”
The manifesto also highlights the neglect of parks, roadsides and cemeteries.
