Springs karatekas bring home medals

Locals raked in the medals at championships.

Karatekas who competed in the competition are front: Fanie du Plessis (sensei), Ronald Visagie, Duan Coetzee, Damian Pretorius and Dewandré van Tonder. Second row: Dries van Zyl, Hope Reynolds, Zuhandre Prinsloo, Anushka Herbst, Jazmin Conradie, Morné Minnie, Xander Swanepoel and Dylan Viljoen. Third row: Sibani Sikhakani , Luhandrè Williams, Ruan Herbst, Jordan Viljoen, Andre Visagie, Lianché Fouché and Johndrè Williams. Back: Johan Swanepoel, Tjaart van der Walt and Moranang Digomo.

Twenty-four karatekas from KWF Springs Karate Club participated in the KWF SA Championship at the Portuguese Hall in Johannesburg on May 28.
Bronze medal winners in kata were Johndrè Williams, Morné Minnie, Xander Swanepoel, Sibani Sikhakani, Ronald Visagie and Zuhandre Prinsloo. Moranang Digomo was awarded a silver medal.
Gold medal winners in kumite were Dylan Viljoen, Sibani Sikhakani and Meetesh Kunver.
Dries van Zyl won a silver medal, while bronze medals were awarded to Jordan Viljoen, Luhandrè Williams, Andre Visagie, Lianché Fouché, Hope Reynolds and Zuhandre Prinsloo.
