Call her Blessed seeks to partner with local designers
Local NPO, Call her Blessed, aims to bring local designers together. They will have an opportunity to showcase and sell their designs at the fundraising event.
Plans are underway for Springs-based NPO, Call her Blessed, to host a fashion show to raise funds for the shelter and create awareness of gender-based violence.
Fundraising volunteer, Dominique Stevenson, says they are seeking more contributors to make the event a success.
“We are looking for fashion designers in and around Ekurhuleni to join us and to allow young fashion designers to showcase and market their designs,” says Dominique.
“We are planning to have different genders and age category models to which the designers can plan their outfits.”
“This event will give individuals a boost to their confidence while showcasing their clothing.”
Dominique hopes to feature a group of unemployed people she recently met at a community upliftment programme, as this opportunity will allow them to add this experience to their resumes when looking for employment.

The event offers to unite and give to those who are in dire situations.
“As a rainbow nation with so much talent and diversity, we are all somehow affected by some form of abuse – personally or through someone.
“There is a great need and our shelter is that place of safety that caters towards the basic needs of women and children who have found themselves in these problematic circumstances of abuse.”
The NPO says it will release the date and advertise ticket sales once all preparations have been finalised.
“We already have two designers on board, whose designs were the inspiration for this great event idea. We would like a few more to get in touch with us so we can give our guests a bigger variety along with some entertainment,” says Dominique.
