Showcase your knitting

MachKnitz is calling knitters to be part of their fashion show in September.

MachKnitz is inviting knitters to showcase their craft at their fashion show in September.
“The idea is to give a platform to knitters to get an income and exposure,” explained Adri Grib from the NPO.
The organisation hopes to spread its passion for knitting as far and wide as possible.
“We want local designers to bring whatever they have already created, or come to our space and create even more,” added Andre van Staden, the organisation’s chairperson.
The public will have an opportunity to order the garments after they have seen them in the fashion show.
MachKnitz specialises in knitting using electric and manual knitting machines.

“Knitting, just like any other art and craft, is about how much time you put into it. If you practice enough, you will master it,” he added.
They host classes every Saturday from 10:00.
The organisation has recently opened a knitting shop at their premises on Loiuse Botha Square.
“Knitting is a dying art and we really want to bring it back to life in our community. This is also our way to give back to the skills that we have,” added Grib.
She said they also hope to attract young people to the art. The NPO also has volunteers who knit blankets and donates them to charity. For more information about the event contact Grib on 083 552 0068.
