Springs Old Boys’ celebrates end of season

The Springs Old Boys (SOB) soccer club celebrated the end of the soccer season with a fun match for the parents and coaches as well as a prize giving ceremony on October 29 at Veritas College sports field.

The Springs Old Boys (SOB) Soccer Club celebrated the end of a successful 2022 soccer season on Saturday at the Veritas College sports field.

The end-of-season celebration gave the SOB soccer coaches an opportunity to take on the parents on the field, followed by a prize-giving ceremony.

“We thought it would be best to bring the parents on board for them to have a feel of what their children go through while playing soccer. This was also to show their children that they are interested in sports and are well-supported by their parents,” said SOB chairperson Shineen Herholdt.

Since the club lost its previous sports ground, they are happy with the progress made in the last two years.

“Our growth has reminded us of how privileged we are. We had an increase from six teams to 11 teams,” said Herholdt.

She added the club had a successful year, evidenced by the achievements of their U10 and U15 league 2 teams.

“Both teams won this year’s league where they received a trophy and medals from the Eastern Local Football Association,” said Herholdt.

The club is looking forward to the next season as they are hopeful it will bring more growth. SOB has thanked Veritas College and CDC Dust Control for their continuous support of the club.
