Desperate for help, Burger turned to Facebook to ask for help with the vet fees and the surgery costs.
The surgery cost an additional R4 500.
Pets Lost and Found South Africa and Pit bull lovers against Sizwe Kupelo Foundation and individuals got to the rescue to help pay the fees.
Riana Malan phoned the vet about covering the consultation and the initial surgery cost.
On the morning of January 11 to arrange to transfer the money and Tiny was given surgery as soon as he was brought in.
Burger and the people involved started a Whatsapp group to facilitate the fundraising and vet bill payment. This created a community of dog lovers who want to help dog owners.

Some of the main individual donors were Cobus Griessel, Sylvia Opperman, Mads Rosslee, Riana Malan, Leoni Swanepoel, Glenda van Rooyen and others.
They are waiting for the final bill before they finish paying for the surgery.
While waiting, the group also assists other animals in desperate need of homes.
Another focus of the group is to help unstigmatise the Pit bull breed and fight against campaigns to ban them.

Tiny is now safe at home and will soon be ready to play with his friends.
On January 13, Tiny was checked again by the vet, who found his wounds are healing well.
The bandages were removed and stitches will come out soon. Tiny has to wear a protective sock until then.
In future, the group hopes to support Burger with the payments to get Tiny micro-chipped as well.
