Brokers invite residents to join community blood drive

Bring your loved ones to contribute towards a worthy and lifesaving cause.

African Independent Brokers (part of the Badger Holdings Group) in Selcourt have partnered with SANBS in response to a February press release, advising that blood stocks are low.

These organisations are calling on the community for support, to ensure that there is a steady supply of safe blood for those in need.

Blood cannot be manufactured, and donated blood is one of the most important things that can help save cancer patients, premature babies and others who need transfusions to live.

In less than an hour you can become a hero to people you will never meet, but whose lives you could change forever.

Blood is a life-saving resource, and there is a constant need for blood donors to ensure a steady supply of safe blood.

In order to make a difference, join the Give Life, Give Blood community blood drive on March 13 from 09:00 to 15:00 on the corner of Halkyn Road and Charterland Avenue, Springs.

All members of the community are invited to donate blood, and a challenge has been issued to local businesses to participate in this cause. Whether you are a first-time donor or an experienced one, your contribution is invaluable.

The process of blood donation is safe, straightforward, and takes only a few minutes of your time.

All necessary precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of donors during the blood drive.

Basic criteria for blood donation:
• Between 16 and 75 years old.
• Weigh over 50kg.
• Eat something before donating.
• Be in good general health.
• Lead a safe sexual lifestyle.
• Consider your blood safe for transfusion to a patient.
