Local schools benefit from SAPS safety campaign

On May 8, Birnel Primary School held its sports competition, giving Dunnottar SAPS the chance to engage learners in their safety programme.

As part of the school safety programme, the Dunnottar Police Station members visited Birnel Primary School on May 8 during its athletic event.

The programme is to ensure the safety of learners and teachers, with police members engaging in domestic violence, human trafficking and bullying.

Local schools Moleneux Pre-Primary School and Selcourt Pre-Primary benefitted from the campaign.

The implementation of the school safety programme is guided by the school safety protocol that was entered into by the SAPS and the Department of Basic Education.

Communications officer Sergeant Maropeng Maphaya remarked, “Our visit was delightful as the staff was welcoming and learners showed an eagerness to learn and compete.”
