Near or far, crochet wherever you are with MachKnitz
MachKnitz calls on knitters to its 30-hour crocheting marathon on May 26 and 27.

MachKnitz is taking part in a 30-hour crochet Safari Marathon on May 26 and 27.
The initiative hosted by the Afrikaans Language and Culture Association (ATKV) Arendsnes in collaboration with Maak ‘n Verskil Hekel is to assist in making and distributing blankets.
Springs organiser Jackely-Ann Maree said the initiative is nationwide, where fellow crocheters would crochet 20cm by 20cm granny patches.
“When stitched together, 36 squares of patches can make one blanket,” said Jackely-Ann.
“If they don’t want to put the pieces into blankets, they can donate the blocks as is. Crocheters may use any pattern and any colour as long as it is the required size.”
Knitters who can’t join the marathon are also welcome to crochet the squares at home and drop them off at the MachKnitz Centre at 13 Louis Botha Road, Casseldale.
Financial or yarn donations may also be contributed.
The blankets will be donated by Maak ‘n Verskil Hekel to those in need. For more information about the marathon, contact Adri Grib at 083 552 0068.
