A day of learning and laughter at Enderun College

International Literacy Day was commemorated on September 8.

Enderun College celebrated International Literacy Day recently. The school celebrated the day with an array of engaging and stimulating activities.

“The event not only highlighted the importance of reading and writing but also exemplified the school’s dedication to empower its students with a love for literature and a thirst for knowledge,” said Nazeefah Dawood, a member of the English department.

The day began with a special assembly in which one of the language teachers, Martinus Meyer, set the tone for the day’s festivities with an address emphasising the power of literacy.

Learners had a blast with storywriting and character dress up.

He highlighted the pivotal role that reading and writing play in shaping the minds and characters of the youth who will become the leaders of tomorrow.

They organised grade eight to eleven learners into groups and spent the day enjoying and completing activities planned by the English department.

These activities included book cover art, sentence training and story writing, character dress-up and play.

“It was a day of fostering not just literacy, but a love for literature, a thirst for knowledge, and a profound appreciation for the written word.”
