Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala commended Du Toit’s recovery of stolen items and vehicles, which he said were outstanding throughout the year.
Though the award was unexpected for Du Toit, he said it was an overwhelming moment for him.
“From the point of view of being in a commander-control environment where I manage shifts, it’s unexpected for me to make any arrests or to get any recognition.
“I never anticipated it. However, I’m very grateful for this award and to everybody who nominated me,” said Du Toit.
