SOB cricketers receive awards
The Springs Old Boys Cricket Club recently held a prize-giving ceremony.
The Springs Old Boys Cricket Club recently held their prize-giving ceremony at Veritas College.
The club’s chairperson, Lionel Joubert, acknowledged the coaches for spending their time training the teams.
Joubert explained that a coach is a person who teaches and understands the meaning of being a coach.
“Within them, there are those who did the Cricket South Africa coaching and umpire courses to enhance their skills.”
The U14 and U12 Impala teams both received second place at the finals and the U10 Impala team received third place in the Eastern Junior Club League.
There were individual players who received trophies and awards in the categories of best batsman, best bowler, all-rounder, and coach’s award:
U14 Impalas:
• Best batsman – Lanro Koen
• Best bowler – Joshua Pascal
• Best all-rounder – Richard van der Westhuizen
• Coaches award – Nicolas de Beer
U12 Impalas:
• Best batsman – Michael Kelder
• Best bowler – Jayden Rossouw (JR)
• Best all-rounder – Christiaan Troskie (Tiaan)
• Coaches award – Matthew Samson
U12 Kingham:
• Best batsman – Veanro Homan-Kennedy
