Daycare receives donation for Grade Ones

The learners will begin their schooling with new shoes.

The Lindane Daycare Centre, a crèche in Slovo Park, recently received a donation of 20 pairs of school shoes. The shoes were donated to the Grade R graduating class of 2024, which progressed to Grade One in the new year.

Alice Mosia, a teacher at the centre, spoke about how far they had come as a school, “We started as a shack in someone’s backyard with 25 children and grew until we had 60 learners and changed our location to a bigger, more permanent home. Today we have 212 learners, a great achievement for the community.”

Springs SAPS Captain Nozipho Mapukata attended to facilitate the donation and spoke about the difficulties and rewards of being a parent.

“Without your prayers as parents, your children would not be sitting here looking so beautiful and receiving these gifts.”

She thanked the Slovo Park community for letting her fulfil her philanthropic duties through them and hoped this donation marked the beginning of great things. Mapukata also thanked the sponsors who made the event a success.
