Scholar transport organisation cautions parents to use registered drivers

It is important that scholar transport service providers are registered.

In light of the accident on February 19 involving learners, the Greater Springs Scholar Transport Association (GSSTA) cautions parents to do due diligence and have their children placed in a registered scholar transport service.

Ronny Lekhuleni, the PRO of GSSTA, says parents must do what is best for their children to keep them safe.

“Two organisations function within greater Springs – the GSSTA and the Springs Education Transport Association. Parents must call and confirm whether their children’s transport is registered with us.”

Lekhuleni says registration under the associations helps to keep the drivers accountable.

“There are rules and regulations the drivers must abide by.”

He adds that parents have the right to remove their children if they are unhappy with the services received.

“There is no need for parents to feel bullied or obligated to keep their children in a transport service that is not registered. We help with the placement of learners if they need assistance.”

For more information, call the GSSTA on 060 369 3624 or visit them on 610 3rd Street, Arcade, Springs.
