Community invited to help San Michele Home make residents’ Christmas special

San Michele Home celebrates 80 years of compassion with a joyful Christmas party for its residents on 10 December 2025.

The San Michele Home turns 80 this year and to celebrate this milestone, they will host a Christmas party for all the residents on December 10.

“This is not just another event on the calendar. It is a moment of joy, love and togetherness for our residents who, just like us, look forward to Christmas with excitement and hope,” said Marius Bosma, the home’s centre manager.

“Many residents come from difficult circumstances and do not have families who can visit or spoil them during this festive season.

“For this reason, we want to make this Christmas one of the most memorable celebrations in our 80-year history, filled with laughter, colour, gifts and the warmth of community,” he continued.

The home asks for kindness and support in helping them make this dream a reality. Any gifts readers can contribute would mean the world to their residents.

Items the home would appreciate:
• Colouring books, pencils, crayons, paints and modelling clay;
• Shoes, caps, hats and T-shirts;
• Face cloths, towels and blankets;
• Sweets, biscuits, juices, plastic juice bottles, games, plastic balls, soft toys, big toy trucks and fidget toys;
• Balloons, decorations and wrapping paper or gift bags.

“Every contribution, no matter how big or small, brings joy and reminds our residents that they are loved and valued,” Marius said.

If you would prefer to assist financially, the San Michele Home is an approved public benefit organisation and can issue a Section 18A tax certificate for your donation. This means your financial contribution is tax-deductible.
