The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) mourned the passing of Dr Natalie Skeepers, former chairperson of the board of the Ekurhuleni Water Care Company (ERWAT), who died on December 15.

Executive Mayor Alderman Nkosindiphile Xhakaza expressed sadness over her death, highlighting her service and dedication to the city and its residents.

According to Zweli Dlamini, spokesperson for the CoE, Skeepers served with distinction, providing principled leadership, sound governance oversight, and strategic guidance.

Her contributions were instrumental in strengthening ERWAT as a critical institution within the city’s water and sanitation sector.

“Skeepers was widely recognised as a respected professional with extensive experience in water, environmental, and governance matters. She was known for her commitment to public service, institutional accountability, and environmental stewardship.

“She played a pivotal role in enhancing oversight structures and advancing ERWAT’s efforts toward compliance, service excellence, and sustainable environmental practices,” Dlamini said.

Xhakaza extended condolences on behalf of the city, its Council, administration, and residents to Skeepers’ family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of working with her.

“Her life, her service, and her lasting contributions to responsible governance and public-sector leadership will remain an enduring inspiration to all committed to ethical leadership and service to communities.
“May her soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.
