I was thinking of the Selection Park Swimming Pool the other day, remember once you had got changed and put your clothing in those lockers, you had to walk through that little pool of water to possibly disinfect your feet before going out to the pools.
To me they were so big.
I also remember running and diving into the shallow end, thinking I was so good.
That waiter at Greatermans, forgot his name, going there with Dad on Saturday mornings for crumpets and milkshake when Mum was at work.
Getting bacon from Gray Smiths and yes, I remember the bus rides.
One thing I will never forget, Peter, is you giving me a ride to school on your bike – I sat on the handlebars and you took me to school.
I must have been in Grade One, I remember one day you giving me a lift and I had a bunch of roses from the garden to give to Miss Wilson.
You must have then carried on to Springs Boys’ High School after dropping me off, thank you.
Ireen, maybe you could draw a picture of that.
The drive-ins, going there with sandwiches and coffee in a flask.
Going on holiday to St Michaels, going to Port Shepstone to get the green trunk and Elizabeth off the train.
Daddy had to take the back seat out to fit the trunk and then sitting on the trunk, no safety belts, back to the cottage. Elizabeth bringing tea and scones to us at the beach. The roadhouse in Selcourt, the station restaurant in Johannesburg. You certainly get us remembering, Peter.
