More good news by Springsites

Woman of Great Destiny writes:

I recently overheard a conversation between two people, about the state of complaints by Springsites.

They were going on about how they wish to hear and read more positive reports from Springsites.

I agree with them.

What happened to telling better stories and reporting better stories?

A large part of making our town a newsworthy place that attracts people, is being able to relate better stories and rebrand ourselves as a positive and happy community.

Let us move away from being a complaining community to one that proactively seeks the good news happening in our society – this will take a shift in mindset as well.

We need to change our thinking and our perception of society.

Yes, there are bad people who do bad things, but there are also a number of people who do great things.

That is where our focus should be.

I was so happy to read about the Art Deco Initiative in last week’s paper.

It was insightful and showed me there is a wealth of historical heritage in our town and made me excited about the prospects that lie ahead of us.

We could be a main tourist attraction site in Ekurhuleni and that is something to shout about.

However, we cannot rebrand the town or make it an attractive place for outsiders if we don’t work on ourselves and our ‘attractiveness’.

I would like to pose a challenge to all Springsites:

Let us try one week of reporting just good news and make an effort to seek good news, no matter how big or small.

Let us paint our town as the historically rich and homely place it is.

Lastly, let us rekindle our identity as a gold town, with golden hearts and hope for the future.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
