Premier on the ball again

Springs Old Boys' Premier cricket team is back in full force after its loss against Kempton Park on February 8.

They played Boksburg on Sunday, won the toss and chose to bat first.

Captain Warren Woolley says they had a great start to the innings when Dylan Smallberger destroyed the opening Boksburg bowlers, smashing a quick and impressive 67 runs.

All other batsmen contributed and the Premiers ended on 247 runs after 48 overs.

“After lunch we took the field to defend 247 on a flat wicket,” he adds.

Two of the local team’s bowlers were outstanding with George Viviers bowling eight overs, four wickets for 31 runs.

The team captain’s brother Jonathan Woolley bowled 10 overs on the trot, taking four wickets for 39 runs.

The winning team bowled Boksburg out for 178 after 32 overs.
