Springs boxer fights in Boksburg

Amateur boxer from Sheeba Boxersice Gym in Sharon Park, Werner Cloete (24), won his first bout to hold the town’s name high, at the Boksburg Boxing Club on Saturday.

He fought in the lightweight division against the experienced Fawny Mnguni (34), from the Bigger Walker Boxing Club in Tsakane.

“The fight was won on points and Werner put up a good fight, in his first amateur boxing class fight,” says Lemo Kunene from the gym.

“Werner has a lot of potential and is a promising boxer.

“He’ll do well in the future, boxing on a professional level,” says his coach, Bra Soweto.

Werner received a trophy for his first victory.
