Charl punches his way to the Gauteng championships
Charl Coetzer will represent Ekurhuleni at the Gauteng Elite Boxing Championships in Koedoespoort, Pretoria, at the end of April.
He will be fighting in the 64kg category and is part of the Ekurhuleni Elite team.
Being a member of the Bert Collins Boxing Club, he joined a few other boxers in Ekurhuleni for a practice session at the club.

Club manager Jeanette Dyzel, says is a technical boxer with a lot of perseverance and good discipline.
“He never misses any practice time and has been boxing since the 90s,” she says.
Charl has won several boxing titles in the past including the District Boxing Championships and Provincial Boxing Championships.
Last year Charl was the runner-up at the championships.
Jeanette says they are proud of the South African Boxing Championship titles he has won in his boxing career.
She believes his experience makes him a prime candidate to win the Gauteng title as well as the SA title.
“This is the second time I will compete in the Gauteng Elite Championships and I look forward to the event,” says Charl.
His club coach Freddie Dicks says Charl is a focused boxer and stands a good chance of winning.
Ekurhuleni Elite team manager Piet van Vuuren and Lwazi Xundu the coach were present at the practice session.

Piet believes Charl will take the title in his weight category.
“He is a strong and scientific boxer, who thinks before taking the next punch,” he says.
Piet is confident that the Ekurhuleni team will bring back the trophy.
“We have a much stronger team than last year,” he says.
