A lukewarm romance
Five Days by Douglas Kennedy is a romantic drama set over, you guessed it, five days (four consecutive days and the fifth a year later).

Laura is a somewhat unhappily married radiologist who heads off to a weekend conference in Boston before her family can convince her not to go.
There she meets Richard and there is a definitive connection between them.
Over the next few days they talk incessantly and they each take a long, hard look at their own lives.
Laura will have to decide what she wants from life and what she will sacrifice in order to get it.
I found this book pretty boring and the romance a bit lukewarm.
I haven’t read any of Douglas Kennedy’s other works, despite hearing that some of them are brilliant.
Having read Five Days, I’m not likely to read anything else by him.
If you are looking for a romantic read, rather opt for someone dependable like Katie Fforde.
