A stunning sequel
Book: City of Lost Dreams Author: Magnus Flyte Reviewed by: Ryan Ferguson Review made possible by: Penguin Books

Let me start off by saying that I am not usually a big fan of sequels to books or movies.
I was sorely mistaken when I thought the same would be the case with City of Lost Dreams, the sequel to City of Dark Magic.
I found myself entranced and encapsulated once again by Flyte’s characters and their progression throughout the story.
Everything I loved about City of Dark Magic was included and magnified in City of Lost Dreams.
Murder, mystery, history, music and fantasy join hands beautifully in this marvel of a novel.
The story follows main protagonist, Sarah Weston, who has subsequently completed her doctorate in neuro-musicology.
Sarah must travel to the marvellous and murderous city of Vienna to find a cure for her ill friend, 13-year-old blind musical prodigy, Pollina.
Along the way to searching for a cure, Sarah is also dragged into solving mysteries within the city of Vienna and dealing with a few murders along the way in her fabulous and witty manner.
All this while trying to get a handle on her love life.
My favourite character remains Sarah Weston, which is rare for me, because usually the main characters in books start to annoy me as the book progresses.
Sarah’s quick wit and sarcastic sense of humour had me laughing out loud at regular intervals.
I would recommend this book for any fan of the genre.
Please note that this book, like its predecessor, is chock full of adult themes and humour and is not suitable for younger readers.
