Artists invited to perform at Black Mic event
“It helps that we do everything in-house and are all hard workers,” says Percy.
The BlackMic Movement is looking for artists to perform at their event on October 6.
Black Mic is made up of five individuals who are involved in the music industry in one way or the other.
There is Percy Nkosi (a performing artist), Kagiso da Gama (a photographer), Gift Nkosi (an artist and videographer), Sifiso Khwesa (a graphic designer) and Sanele Mtshali (a producer).

“In the East Rand, there are a lot of great artists but they don’t know how to establish themselves as such.
“We wanted to give upcoming artists a platform to get their name out there and also to equip them with the knowledge they need so they can grow and improve in both their confidence and stage presence.
“It helps that we do everything in-house and are all hard workers,” says Percy.
The event next Friday will not be their first as they held one in May this year where they had over 50 artists involved on the day.

Artists who graced the stage at their events include Edgar Mashaba and Quaz.
Black Mic is not just for singers or rappers, the movement as they call themselves, also includes poets and artists.

There is no entry fee for artists who want to perform and doors open at 5pm at the Social Shisha Bar.
