The book was originally released in 2008 and has been re-released following the release of the movie, last year, based on the book.

Meet Enzo, the lovable mutt that tells the story.

He has always known he is different to other dogs, and while other dogs enjoy chasing cars, Enzo lives to race them with his owner, up-and-coming race car driver Denny Swift.

This is a heart-warming story about a pup who finds not only a home but also a true passion when Denny introduces him to the open road.

He has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master, Denny.

Through Denny, Enzo realises that racing is a metaphor and that by applying the techniques a driver would apply on the race track, one can successfully navigate the ordeals and travails one encounters in life.

Applying the rules of racing, Enzo overcomes his limitations as a dog to tackle his family’s challenges and emerges the hero of the tale.

This is a touching and inspirational tale of a family’s struggles and triumphs and the part Enzo plays in helping them to overcome their obstacles.

With humour and a brave heart, Enzo guides the reader to the bittersweet yet ultimately satisfying conclusion that there are no limitations to what we can achieve if we truly know where we want to be.

While this book is primarily aimed at children, anyone who loves animals and their individual personalities will simply love this book.

No doubt, children with pets, especially golden retrievers and Labradors, should have this story on their bookshelves.
