KWF Springs Karate Club shines at Brakpan championship

Twenty-three karatekas from KWF Springs delivered impressive results at a friendly championship in Brakpan, showcasing skill across all belt divisions.

Twenty-three members from KWF Springs Karate Club on Ermelo Road in Casseldale participated in a friendly championship at the Brakpan Indoor Centre on April 11.

The event was organised by Sensei Chris Anthony.

“I am very proud of everyone who participated; they did very well. We are grateful that we were invited; everyone enjoyed the championship,” sensei Fanie du Plessis said.

Results for novice, white and yellow belts:

  • Brooklyn Pieters: bronze for kata
  • Amoré Grobler: gold for kata, silver for kihon ippon kumite and silver for kumite
  • Nikita Vermeulen: silver for kata, gold for kihon ippon kumite and gold for kumite
  • Asimbonge Nhlapo: bronze for kata and kihon ippon Christopher Pretorius: bronze for kata and kihon ippon kumite
  • Mohau Lekalakala: silver for kata and bronze for kihon ippon kumite
  • Declyn Materin: bronze for kata and gold for kihon ippon kumite
  • Gosiame Mashigo: silver for kata and bronze for kihon ippon kumite
  • Sibahle Siluma: bronze for kata and kumite
