Springs athletes crowned South African champions at Kurash Championships

Two athletes from Kenkoy Judo Club in Springs have been crowned South African champions and will represent the country at the African Championships.

Two athletes from Kenkoy Judo Club in Edelweiss, Springs, have been crowned South African champions and secured places in the national team that will compete at the African Championships later this year.

Willem van Wyk and Caydon van Loggenberg represented the club at the Kurash South African Championships in Johannesburg on May 23, where both delivered outstanding performances in their respective divisions.

Van Wyk claimed first place in the Masters division, while Van Loggenberg emerged victorious in the Pre-Cadet division, earning a gold medal in his age category.

Van Wyk shared that their achievements have earned them the opportunity to represent South Africa at the African Championships, scheduled to take place from August 6 to 10 in Johannesburg.

The success of the two athletes has been welcomed by Kenkoy Judo Club, which expressed pride in their accomplishments on the national stage.

“Kenkoy Judo Club is extremely proud of their achievement and wishes them every success as they prepare to represent our country,” said the club.
