Ogies court hands out sentences

Ogies Regional Court found a number of offenders guilty, crimes included were those of assault, theft, and illegal immigration.

Bheki Mlambo was found guilty of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was sentenced to a fine of R3 000 or serve six months imprisonment of which R1 500 or 90 days was wholly suspended on condition that he not be convicted of assault within the period of suspension. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Lucky Ntshangase was found guilty of theft and sentenced to pay a fine of R3 000 or serve six months’ imprisonment. This sentence was suspended for five years.

The court also did not make an order declaring Ntshangase unfit to possess a firearm.
An illegal immigrant will be deported after being found guilty of illegal immigration.

Emaneul Nyasengo was found guilty of contravening section 49(1) of Act 13 of 2002 – illegal immigration, and sentenced to pay a fine of R1 500 or serve 90 days imprisonment. Nyasengo was handed over to the authorities of home affairs for possible deportation.
