A man has appeared before the Witbank Magistrate Court with charges of rape brought against him.
On Thursday, July 7 a 29-year-old woman was at her home situated at Extension eight when she was raped. Date rape is when you are raped by someone you know which could be your boyfriend.
It was around 19:30 when a man came in with groceries of which she put those items in the fridge.
She went to the bedroom and the man followed her stating that there was something he wanted to talk to her about.
When they both got there he took of his jacket and spectacles, pushed the woman on top of the bed, undressed and raped her. The suspect is known to the victim.
Within 24 hours the man was behind bars because of the crime he had committed. He made his first appearance at the Witbank Magistrate Court on July 11.
“Within a day the suspect was arrested, this is a clear indication that the law does not rest until these culprits are arrested,” said Captain Eddie Hall, Witbank Police spokesperson.
