Man allegedly films woman urinating, then later rapes her
The police advise women to mind areas where they relieve themselves, no matter how pressed they are.
The Vosman SAPS are investigating a case of sexual assault after a woman was allegedly blackmailed and raped in the CBD.
Captain Vusi Mnisi from Vosman SAPS said the woman alleged that on the evening of January 8, she had been at a local pub with her friend, and they decided to withdraw money from a nearby ATM.
She suddenly felt pressed and needed to relieve herself urgently, and went to a nearby corner.
Before she could finish, she reportedly heard a man speaking behind her, only to turn to a man who had been recording her as she urinated.
The man then allegedly threatened her that he would post this video on social media.
Mnisi said the woman alleged that she begged him not to post the video and instead offered to pay him money.
The woman told police the man convinced her to take a walk in an open field reportedly started touching her and allegedly raped her.
The woman went to Vosman SAPS to open a case, and investigations are continuing as police work hard to find the man.
Mnisi warned women to always be careful about areas where they relieve themselves.
“Even if you’re pressed and want to relieve yourself, do not do it in hidden spaces because that is where people take advantage of vulnerable people like women,” he said.
