eMalahleni court postpones Klipfontein murder case

The man arrested for allegedly shooting a 30-year-old man in Klipfontein appeared in court on July 7, where his case was postponed.

A man appeared in the eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court today, July 7, in connection with the fatal shooting of Sizwe Mahlabane (30) in Klipfontein.

According to Mahlabane’s cousin, Nhlanhla Nkosi, the tragedy unfolded in the early hours of June 6 when an altercation allegedly broke out between Mahlabane and another man.

Although the fight was broken up, the suspect allegedly followed Mahlabane as he drove home.

Nkosi said Mahlabane was driving through Klipfontein when the suspect allegedly intercepted his vehicle and shot him. He was declared dead at the scene.

The incident has left the family devastated.

“My cousin was a loving father, son and brother whose untimely death has caused immense pain to his loved ones, especially his children, who have now lost their father,” another family member said. “He was a kind and caring person whose life was cut short under heartbreaking circumstances.”

The suspect surrendered to the police shortly after the incident. He made his first court appearance today, where the matter was postponed to July 24 for a formal bail application.
