Security guard tied up and robbed during night shift at local mine

The robbers fled the scene with the guard’s cellphones, leaving him tied up in the guard room.

A security guard was tied up and robbed by three armed men while on duty at night.

According to police, the guard was performing his routine patrol at a local mine on June 24 at about 22:10 when he was suddenly attacked by three men.

The suspects allegedly pointed a firearm at him and forced him into the guard room.

The guard was reportedly tied up and robbed of his cellphones before the suspects fled the scene, leaving him restrained inside the guard room.

The complainant was rescued by his supervisor at about 02:00.

A case has been opened at Vosman SAPS, and investigations are underway.

Anyone with information that could assist the police is urged to come forward.
