Schools show-down at horse riding show

A bustling, busy weekend bore fruits for the riders who had made the journey

SANESA (South African National Equestrian Schools Association) recently held their second qualifying show at Badplaas.

SANESA is a show-holding body that hosts horse riding shows in which schools compete against each other through their students.

SANESA currently boasts 14 horse riding disciplines that riders can choose to participate in; including dressage, show jumping, showing, eventing, western mounted games, equitation, etc.

Four qualifying shows are followed by a national SANESA competition, with the riders with the most accumulated points in each discipline going forward to represent their province at the annual SANESA National Championships during September/October.

On the weekend of April 5, the riders from Riverview Stables (situated in Riverview Country Estate) trucked their steeds all the way to eManzana.

A bustling, busy weekend bore fruits for the riders who had made the journey.

Ayden Vosloo, riding for Laerskool Kragbron, managed to place fourth in both Performance Riding and Working Riding, a third in In-Hand Utility and a fifth in Working Hunter.

Llewelyn van der Walt, riding for Laerskool Taalfees, earned a fifth place in Performance Riding, a sixth place in Working Riding, and a fourth and sixth for dressage.

Riverview Stables’ manager and instructor, Chantel Edwards, competed in the classes set aside for the adult riders who accompany the students to every qualifier; placing third and fifth in AN 2 and 3.

All three riders excitedly await the chance to compete in the third SANESA qualifier later this year.
