Remember to register to vote in Ward 18

A by-election is to be held in Ward 18 soon as Cllr Henro Kruger has resigned as a ward Councillor following his election as a Member of Parliament in the recently held National and Provincial elections.

The resignation of Cllr Kruger has created a vacancy in Ward 18. It is therefore in this regard that the residents of ward are hereby notified that a by-election to fill the vacancy will be held on July 2.

It is important to know that voter registration will take place at Reynorif Laerskool, Gasel Avenue, on May 31 and June 1 from 08:00 to 17:00.  Unregistered voters staying in Ward 18 are welcome to register.

The voters’ roll for this by-election will be certified on June 6, this means this date no voters will be registered for this by-election.
The cut-off date and time for the submission of nominations of candidates is on June 12 at 17:00.

The opening of applications for special votes is on June 17.
Closing of applications for special votes is on June 20. The special votes at voting stations and special votes-home visits will be on July 1 from 08:00 until 17:00.

The by-election will be held on July 2 from 07:00 until 21:00.
The results of the by-election will be declared on July 3.

The day of the by-election is not a public holiday.
