
On July 23 a supermarket in the Central Business District was robbed.
At about 13:00 a suspect entered the store and held both personnel and shoppers at gunpoint. One man was told to lie down while one of the robbers frisked him, taking R6 000 from him.
Six other suspects entered the store and began clearing the tills out, they also packed cigarette cartons and airtime packages into bags. The rest of the victims were gathered, told to move to the rear of the store and were searched for valuables.
The seven suspects then fled the scene in an Audi A3 with registration CV 90 KJ GP and headed off in the direction of the N4 highway.
Police are currently investigating the robbery and no arrests have yet been made. No one was injured in the robbery.
