The police always warn against hiking at hotspots. Some heed the call and others just do not bother with trying to keep themselves out of harms way.
A man was robbed after he was picked up by a Toyota vehicle, heading towards Ogies.
The man, who wished not to be named said, “I was on my way home to Ogies when this Toyota RunX car stopped and gave me a lift. I did not think the worst of these young men as they looked proper.” Unfortunately the victim did not think that looks could be deceiving and not all that seems as it is could be something else.
The man was robbed on September 13 at about 18:30 after having driven some few kilometres from where he was picked up. He alleged that the two suspects pulled out a gun and demanded all his belongings, including any money that he might have had with him at that time.
“I was faced by a gun, so I gave them all that I had and told them they could leave me there. They dropped me off, I walked back to eMalahleni and went straight to the police station,” said the victim.
The suspects were later found in the Schoongezicht area after the car was found by members of the Flying Squad. Cash, bank cards, a cell phone and airtime was taken from the victim and unfortunately was not recovered during seizing of the car. The suspects are still at large.
