
Kriel police arrested 14 suspects between the ages of 19 and 39 years old. The suspects were arrested during police daily operations over the past weekend.
On September 20 police arrested a 22-year-old man for possession of suspected stolen property. Police were patrolling Kriel when they noticed two suspicious men. When the police drove closer to them, the men dropped the item they were carrying and ran away.
The item was a five litre tin of enamel paint.
Later when they patrolled the area managed to arrest one of the suspects who was charged with possession of suspected stolen property.
On Sunday, September 21 a shoplifter was arrested in possession of shoes. An employee in one of the stores in Kriel Mega Mark Mall was patrolling in the store when a man entered the shop and did some shopping. When he was supposed to pay for the items at the cashier he decided to leave the items, no longer purchasing them.
As he exited the store one of the store clerks noticed he was hiding something, and he was searched. They found a pair of shoes in his possession. He was arrested and charged with shoplifting.
In the Rietspruit area a 21-year-old man was arrested for burglary. A resident returned home to find her kitchen door broken open and her home ransacked by thieves.
The thieves had stolen two laptops, jewellery, and clothing all to the value of R50 000.A case of burglary was opened and later that day a suspect was arrested in possession of one of the stolen items.
