Hijacked after accident

After two vehicles were involved in an accident, they drove together to a petrol station, where one car was hijacked.

The incident happened on Friday, November 7 at 19:20 when Mr Theminkosi Mabaso and his friend Mr Nelson Zitha were driving in Voortrekker Street in a maroon Mazda 3.

When Mabaso stopped at a stop street, another vehicle collided with the back of them. Both drivers agreed to get out of the road and they drove to a nearby petrol station.

At the station three unknown men approached Mabaso. Two of the men drew their firearms, while the third suspect grabbed Mabaso.

They then took the Mazda 3 and drove away.
“When people want to come and report a stolen vehicle they must bring their vehicle registration papers, so that a case can be opened. As police we will need to circulate the information of the vehicle and this will also help identify stolen vehicles at road blocks,” said Sergeant David Ratau, spokesperson for Witbank SAPS.
