
The man was killed in KwaGuqa Extension 16 on Thursday, November 6 at about 03:00.
Police say that a 30-year-old man was asleep and heard a sound of breaking outside. He then looked through the window and saw two men at his car. He then called neighbours and went out. One man was seen running away but the other one could not be seen.
The house owner and neighbours found the hiding man when they searched the car,
He was questioned and later community members joined in more numbers. The group started beating him with sjamboks, sticks and stones until he could not move.
Police were summoned to the scene, finding the man badly assaulted with wounds all over his body. He was lying unconscious on the street.
An ambulance was called and upon its arrival, the victim was certified dead by the paramedics.
Vosman police have opened a case of murder and no arrest has been made.
“Mob killing was never a solution to stop crime. Anyone who laid a hand on the deceased will face the full might of the law,” said Captain Klaas Maloka, Vosman communication officer.
