Their operations started on December 24 and ended on January 7. Among their successes was the arrest of five suspects in possession of drugs
According to the police report, dagga worth about R4 000 was found in a suspect’s possession in Extension 3, Hlalanikahle on December 24.
One suspect was then arrested and charged for dealing in dagga.
In another incident cocaine with a street value of about R5 000 was found at Extension 16 on December 29. One suspect aged 26 was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs.
In another arrest, a plastic bag with heroine worth about R2 000 and R4 000 in cash was found in three suspects’ possession. The suspects were all aged between 25 and 32 and were arrested on December 26 in Extension 14. They were also charged with dealing in drugs.
The three suspects were found with three young girls aged between 15 and 18.
The station commander of Vosman, Brigadier Makhosazana Kheswa took it upon herself to visit their homes and to address their parents.
She wanted to point out the issue of safety, discipline and crime in general to their parents.
According to police report the parents and neighbours came out and accused the station commander of abusing their girls and said that they were not happy with her conduct. One of the neighbours, an old man, warned the neighbours and pointed out the importance of safety and that the police were there to ensure their safety and protection.
Vosman police appeal to the community to understand that policing is a collective effort between the police, Community Police Forum (CPF) and the community.
