On Thursday, February 5 at about 20:00 at KwaGuqa in Extension 16, (Marikana section) the decomposed body of Lehlogonolo Moretsetsele was found.
Information at hand suggests that a 23-year-old Zimbabwean national, stepfather of the deceased, took the boy at about 07:30 on Tuesday, February 3 to buy him a school uniform.
The boy was a pupil of Nelson Ngubeni Primary School.
When the boy did not come back home with his stepfather, his mother, Mohlatse Moretsetsele (25) started looking for him. The body of the boy was traced to his 50-year-old grandmother’s shack in Extension 16, already decomposed.
It appears that the stepfather consulted with a relative, telling him that he had killed the boy and wanted assistance to get rid of the body and to migrate back to Zimbabwe.
Following information police managed to arrest the suspect on Thursday, February 5.
It was not clear from the decomposed body what the cause of death was, however a postmortem will be conducted.
“Lehlogonolo was the first child, he liked playing, was friendly and was well known in the neighborhood, we will definitely miss him,” said his grandmother.
The suspect is facing two charges of murder, one is with Witbank SAPS when he allegedly stabbed and killed a pregnant woman in January. The woman was his sister-in-law, who then gave birth to a stillborn.
The suspect appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, February 10.
Lehlogonolo was buried on Wednesday, February 11 at the Kromdraai Cemetery.
