Stop if you are involved

Police caution the public that should they be involved in an accident they must stop and assist where possible.

On March 27, a pedestrian was knocked over at about 07:50.
According to a witness a motorcyclist knocked the pedestrian over and drove off. The witness was able to recall the motorcycle’s license plate number and provided the plate number to police.
The pedestrian, Ms Virginia Lebjane, was taken to hospital by paramedics.

Police followed up on the registration of the motorcycle and contacted the owner, who was charged with failure to stop at an accident scene.
“It is important that if you are involved in an accident, you wait for officials and provide the necessary assistance and information required from you,” said Capt Eddie Hall, police communications officer.
