The learner was one of 12 teenagers who last week were dealt with for being involved in drugs.
The 14-year-old was immediately sent on a rehabilitation programme.
“This is one of the several sad stories we address each day,” said Capt Eddie Hall, police spokesperson.
Hot on the heels of this arrest came to positive successes for Witbank SAPS.
Const Mandla Nkuna and Const John Radebe, working at Witbank Magistrate’s Court performing court duties, also made a huge drug arrest on June 4 at around 12:00.
They were patrolling in Watermeyer Street after they left the prisoners at court. The constables had a hunch that something just was not adding up and they stopped the man and searched him. That was when they discovered
16 arms of dagga inside the bags. They arrested the suspect on the spot. The dagga weighed 7.2kg.
Capt Hall said the man confessed that he was on his way to Tasbet Park where he would sell the dagga to mostly learners.
Last week also kicked off on a positive note when Const Michael Ngobeni and Const Happy Mahlangu’s sixth sense paid off. They noticed a Toyota Corolla on the N12 that did not have a number plate displayed on the back and decided to do a routine inspection.
A thorough inspection led the two policemen to discovering dagga hidden behind the door panels of the car.
They found 19 ‘arms’ of dagga with a street value of over R45 000.
“The suspects were on their way from Kabokweni with the assignment of dagga,” Capt Hall said.
Capt Hall said the trio travelling in the car was arrested. They appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, June 9 and the case was postponed for a week for further investigation.
