Idiry Henrietta Breedt pleaded guilty

Ms Idiry Henrietta Breedt pleaded guilty on three charges including that of theft and false pretences at the Witbank Magistrate court.

On June 30, the 56 year old appeared in court with charges brought up against her at the court of law. One of the major cases Breedt was involved in dates back as far as 2009 when  Mr Johan Steyn lent her R85 000, Mr Dirk Meyer lent her R150 000 and Mr Richard Cocke lent her R60 000. All this money was borrowed by her in one week.

When borrowing the money from the three men she said she will be able to pay them back in a month’s time.

“She told me she had a big project lined up at the mines and needed money to buy piping material. I gave her the money but she never paid me back. When I phoned her she told me she was waiting on an engineer who needs to sign the job off. It will only be then that she will be able to pay me back,” said Meyer.

Cocke said Breedt told him she was involved in an R 1 million deal which will see her pay back the money in no time. “She was a friend so I trusted her, but unfortunately she never paid back the money”, said Cocke.

With months turning into years of her not paying them they decided to open a case against her pleading for help from the law’s side to intervene.

Breedt pleaded guilty with a report read by her Lawyer that she admits she did not request the money from these three gentlemen because she wanted it for the project as she had claimed but instead for her own personal use.
“She might not be able to pay us back our money but at least she will be sentenced for her deeds. Money is just monetary value, life itself is more precious”, said Cocke.

She will also be appearing a Middelburg Magistrate Court this Friday concerning other cases she was charged with, but as for her Witbank Magistrate Court case that has been postponed to September 1.
