Freak accident kills young man
On the outskirts of town near Ben fleur a victim died when he was crushed between a wall and a truck that was passing through the gate.
The shocked witnesses on the scene standing silently as the paramedics cover the deceased’s body with a thermal blanket while waiting for pathology to remove it. The large stone wall lay toppled over in chunks near by. This is the scene where the freak accident happened.
According to an eye witness who alleges that on July 13 a truck was making a delivery and as the gate opened the man tried to get into the property.
It was speculated by people on scene that because there was construction going on that he might have been looking for work.
The truck driver apparently did not notice the man and as he drove through the gate and pinned him between the truck and the wall. It is unclear how the wall collapsed but emergency services declared the man dead on the scene.
The police also attended the scene to take witness statements and they opened a case of Culpable Homicide. The former resident from Spring Valley has identified by his family.
